Renfro Valley Entertainment Center

The star attraction of Rockcastle County is without a doubt, Renfro Valley, “Kentucky’s Country Music Capital” since 1939. Music still rings the rafters of the Old Barn theater with twelve shows a week featuring country, bluegrass, gospel and comedy along with headliner concerts and festivals. It’s hard to put into words what has kept people coming to Renfro Valley for over 69 years. Whatever it is, once you experience it, you’ll want to come back and bring someone with you, so they can experience it too!

Historic BitterSweet Cabin Village

Named not only because of the bittersweet plant that grows wild in Rockcastle County, but also as a reminder that the olden days were “bitter” with many hardships, but “sweet” with the simplicity that you don’t find in today’s world. These cabins were moved to Renfro Valley in hopes of preserving the Appalachian heritage. They exhibit artifacts dating from the 1700’s to the 1940’s. As you stroll through the village you’ll find many displays telling the story of the blacksmith, broom maker, wood wright, general store and much more. There’s even an old fashioned outhouse, for display only! One cabin houses the gift shop filled with the reasonably priced hand made crafts of local artisans. Located on I-75, exit 62, within walking distance of the Renfro Valley Entertainment Center. Open March-December, hours vary.
