Red Bud Health Walk

Come join in the fun and get in shape with free prizes and a Subway lunch to the first 400 walkers. All ages welcome with regular (approx. 2 miles) and handicapped/stroller routes (approx. 1 mile) available. Starts at the Little White Church in the Renfro Valley Village and ends at the Kentucky Music hall of Fame from 11 am to 1 pm RAIN OR SHINE. Parking is available at Renfro Valley Entertainment Center.  Live music (weather permitting). Sponsored by The Mt. Vernon-Rockcastle County Tourist Commission, Rockcastle Regional Hospital, the Christian Appalachian Project, The City of Mt. Vernon, Renfro Valley Entertainment Center and  ASPI.

Kentucky Music Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

Get your tickets now to see David “Stringbean” Akeman, Dale Ann Bradley, Jason Crabb, Billy Ray Cyrus, Jackie DeShannon and Bobby Lewis receive the highest honor Kentucky has to offer in recognition of their talents and contributions to the music industry. The event is black tie optional and will begin at 6:00pm with a silent auction and cash bar/hors d’oeuvre reception with the inductees. The evening will continue with a plated dinner and the ceremony including performances by Kentucky Artists & Inductees. The event will take place at the Center For Rural Development in Somerset, KY. Saltpetre Cave Open House

May 19 & 20

Great Saltpetre Cave was a significant source of saltpetre during the War of 1812, and is now listed in the National Register of Historic Places.  Guided tours of the cave, free soup beans and corn bread and miles of hiking trails. Admission is free, but donations are always appreciated.Saturday and Sunday 10:00am to 4:00pm. I-75, exit 59. East on HWY 25, turn left onto 1004, continue on 1004 until it comes to a “T” (at tracks). Turn right and continue to Great Saltpetre Cave Preserve. 9 miles from I-75. GSP is owned by Rockcastle Karst Conservancy, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, local volunteer organization dedicated to dedicated to preserving the unique geological, hydrological, biological, archeological, historical and recreational resources associated with caves and karst lands. RKC’s goal is to permanently protect caves and karst lands in Rockcastle County, Kentucky and its surrounding region through land acquisition, ownership and resource management. The wise stewardship we take today will preserve these areas for future generations continued enjoyment. For more information about Rockcastle Karst Conservancy, please visit www.rkci.org.

The War Hammer 100

This 103 mile trail run begins in the Red River Gorge and makes it’s way along the Sheltowee Trace through 8 different counties, including Rockcastle, the race will end at Wildcat ATV Park in London, KY. Space is limited so register now!

US 25 Yard Sale

Set up a booth along US 25 in Rockcastle County and be a part of the fun.
Clinton, TN  – Richwood, KY On US 25 & US 25W This event is 325 miles long, making one of the 10 longest yard sales in America! Must have access to off road parking. Permission to set up on private or public property is the responsibility of the yard sale participant, and must be obtained prior to the event.

Wildcat Mountain Challenge

Registration begins at 8:00am at the Livingston, KY Trail Head Visitor Center. Race begins at 9:00am with a 1/4 mile running start to the Rockcastle River, followed by a 4 mile kayak down stream on the Rockcastle River. Next you will take a 6 mile bike ride followed by a 5 mile trail run that will end back at the Livingston Trail Town Trail Head. Prizes will be awarded to the top male, female and team finishers.

Event is sponsored by the Sheltowee Trace Association and the Livingston Trail Town Committee.
